Sarah and Subir: Of Scenic Shores and Lasting Memories!

On the 11th of February, 2017, in a gorgeous beach wedding overlooking the Arabian Sea, Subir was finally espoused to that cute girl at work whom he had secretly liked for months before finally asking her out. Sarah was quite taken aback when Subir confessed his feelings for her, but egged on by their mutual friends, she decided to give it a go. She knew soon enough, that she had made the right choice!

The picturesque venue for the wedding

The Mumbai- based couple were keen to marry away from the maddening hustle and bustle of the city and chose to exchange their vows at the scenic Prainha Resort by the Sea, in Dona Paula, Goa. During the Afternoon Service, as Sarah walked towards her groom, with Yi Ru Ma’s famous melody playing, and the sounds of the waves crashing against the Goan shores, time truly stood still!

The theme colour, Marsala, in the little details

Sarah and Subir, who funded their own wedding, decided to have a simple ceremony, sticking only to the basics. Their pictures, however, prove that they had a whale of a time! Kudos to them for managing to have it all without spending a bomb! Here’s how they did it!

And the two shall become one...

Less guests. More fun.

They invited forty of their nearest and dearest to partake in the festivities and the relaxed camaraderie was evident. For Sarah and Subir, the wedding festivities doubled up as a happy reunion, making it an even more memorable night. Win- win!

A Little Research goes a Long Way.

If you can spend some time online (shoutout to Pinterest!) and know what you want your wedding gown to be like, getting it stitched would be the economically wiser option. Sarah opted for a simple but beautiful A- line dress. The bottom half of the dress had endless layers of tulle, which complemented the heavily beaded top. The beading on the sheer sleeves and the buttons at the back were all her own ideas that were executed to perfection by the seamstress.

Sarah looks ethereal in the dress of her dreams!

If you can do it yourself, why not?

Sarah’s makeup is flawless and we love how she managed to sport a shade of the theme colour Marsala on her lips too! She did her hair and makeup herself! You don’t need to hire a makeup artist when the bride is this skilled!

Married life is all about teamwork, anyway!

Things get moving when you join forces! Sarah did the planning and researching, and Subir went out there and executed those ideas impeccably. Of course, it helped immensely that Subir works in the events management industry- planning the budget meticulously and knowing what to prioritise was a cakewalk.

But overseeing so many things on your own has its downside too. The run up to the wedding, in Sarah’s memory, is a blur of hectic last minute changes and arrangements. In fact, even a few hours before the wedding, she was juggling phone conversations with the baker and the florist while doing her makeup, and Subir was busy welcoming the guests and making them comfortable.

But when the ceremony began and Sarah walked down the aisle to see the man she loved waiting for her, all those fleeting worries were forgotten. When the Pastor finally declared them as one in the eyes of God and man, everything else paled into insignificance. And in that moment of supreme happiness, Sarah knew she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!

(Subir is the Head of the Creative Department at Showbiz Experiential Communications, Mumbai. Sarah freelances as a Content Writer. They reside in Mumbai with their lab Neo, loving and living an adventure.)
