Gracy and Carlton: Always...
Gracy and Carlton were batchmates at the Bombay Flying Academy. Neither of them would have imagined a future together as they barely exchanged a word throughout the whole duration of their course. It was only after graduating that they happened to reconnect on facebook, paving the way for a five year romance. On 16th December 2017, they sealed the deal in the Guardian Angels Church at Sanvordem, Goa.
Even though it was a traditional Goan Catholic wedding, we loved how the couple threw in several aspects of their shared interests to make the day truly their own. They chose to have their pre- wedding photo shoot at their favourite spot in Goa, the Cabo de Rama Beach.
Staying true to their love for the Harry Potter series, the cake topper for their customized wedding cake was the word- Always- which in the dictionary of any Potterhead speaks of everlasting and unconditional love! While the theme colours were champagne blue and blush, the lighting and general atmosphere of the reception venue was intended to exude magical and fantastical vibes.
One cool element we didn’t spot in any other wedding that we have covered till date was the ‘Marriage Advice Corner’- a table set aside for guests to write down little nuggets of advice in chits of paper for the newly married couple.
For Gracy, getting the perfect dress was quite a smooth ride. The illusion neckline on her dress ensured that she was every bit the showstopper bride, while also being respectful of the dress codes at church.
We love how Gracy didn’t bow down to the general bridal compulsion of buying tonnes of jewellery. Since she was never a fan of it anyway, and was sure she’d never wear it again, she opted for imitation jewellery and rocked it all the way!
Preparing for the big day wasn’t easy. Since both Gracy and Carlton are based overseas, most of the discussions and finalizations with the vendors happened over countless emails and whatsapp texts. It took a year of planning to pull off their wedding day but that one year taught them a lot about making compromises, coordinating and getting work done together. That one year was for them a sneak peak into what married life would be like.
Since they decided to make do without an event planner, every stressful hurdle was dealt with by the couple and Gracy acknowledges the unending support rendered by Carlton and their respective families. When Carlton was quizzed over the mindset with which he approached his wedding day, he said his only focus was to support his bride in every way possible and see her shining on their big day.
While Gracy and Carlton agree that investing in a good photographer is a must for every couple planning their wedding, they are quick to add that the wedding is only the first 24 hours of a marriage that will last a lifetime, so don’t lose sight of the larger picture! Sound advice, indeed!
